Class suggestions

As one of the regular teachers here at The Stamping and Scrapbooking Room, I am asking if there are any suggestions of classes you would like to see in the upcoming months. What kinds of classes do you want?

We want to cater to your needs and wants, so this is your chance to give us your input! Tell us what classes you would like even what instructor you would like to teach the class. Do you want classes with stamps or products included? Do you want scrapbooking classes to include papers? Do you want product demonstration classes like the Diecut Divas where you get a Spellbinders die with the class? Are you looking for 1-2 hour classes or would you like longer classes (all day or half day)? Are there techniques you would like to learn?

Did you know that all the instructors are willing to do 1-to-1 classes? We are willing to create a special class just for you or your group of friends.

Leave a comment here or send to Lynna at qtpieo69@yahoo or Betty at stampinbetty@aol.com We really need to know what your interests are so that we can make your experience with us the best possible. Look for some extra special classes in Aug and Sept! Also, there will be 2 ornament topper classes again this year. One will be for beginners and the other will be for more advanced cutting and special additions to the ornaments. Keep and eye out for pictures and details to come soon.

May 16th & 17th, 2009 Die Cut Diva Weekend Retreat

What a great job Janine did with the Die Cut Diva Weekend Retreat. Everyone who attended learned everything & more they needed to know about Spellbinders Nestabilities & the things their die cutting system could do.
Give Janine a big hand for all the preparation and work she put into this fabulous weekend. Everyone had custom name badges made out the Labels 4 Spellbinder die.

Give a hand to Betty for all the wonderful food, chocolate, goodies, discounts and specials the attendees received.

Give a hand to the attendees who made it such a fun and wonderful weekend!

Thanks to Cheryl for sending me these great pictures of the class. We will post more in the next few days. If anyone missed this weekend and would like us to schedule another one, please email me stampinbetty@aol.com

National Scrapbook Day '09

Happy Belated National Scrapbook Day! Sorry this is a bit late. I've had a few computer issues and have them fixed now. I think I see a new computer on the horizon.

Joy is busy working on a page with photos from her recent trip to Disney. She took over 2000 pictures while on vacation with her family.

Ms. Teena on the phone with someone whom we have yet to meet! Teena was working on swaps. She was making the cutest inchies and ATC cards.

Debby getting ready to make cards for the Cards for Heros project.

Kaye won a prize from K & Company. Way to go Kaye!

Nanci is busy with demonstrations while Betty, Angela, Judy and Wilda create!

Everyone had a wonderful time working on layouts, cards and socializing. Betty and Eric provided great food and door prizes for everyone. We'll have to wait until next year to do it again unless.... we can get a ScrapPink event planned. Raise your hand if you think we should have a ScrapPink event! Me, Me, Me I'm waiving over here can you see me? Oh well, I think they get the message. Let Betty and Eric know if you would like to attend an all day/weekend event and I'll get busy preparing for it.

See you soon!
Janine

Upcoming classes by Lynna

For those of you wondering what's coming up in classes...

Mini Art
We are going to take a look at using your scraps in creating mini art. We will cover inchies, rinchies, twinchies, ATCs and Moo cards. If you don't know or haven't heard all about these, this class will get you going. Even if you have done 1 or more of these, you can still learn about the others. You will need to bring: paper scraps (including any specialty papers), bits & pieces (can be anything relatively small like bling, brads, flowers, puzzle pieces, old game bits, magazine pictures, eyelets, stickers, or other embellishments), adhesives (may want a couple kinds), scissors, and your favorite tools. If you have small square or circle punches, you may want to bring them. We will have a small basket of embellishments available to use. The pieces pictured are just examples I made from my stash of goodies. This class is a great way of going green by using all of your small scraps. Think about all those little pieces of paper you throw away and consider making them into art instead!
Class price is $17. Class dates are: Saturday, May 9 @ 12 pm & Wednesday, May 13 @ 1pm

The other class I've got scheduled is called Scraponomics. It is not a true class, but more like a seminar. We will not be making anything, but you will have handouts and see examples of items I've made. This will also be an exchange of ideas, so come with your favorite recycling ideas.
In this day and time, it is essential to find ways to save money. I've got some really great ways to recycle/reuse household items in your crafting. From the cereal boxes to using some long forgotten items in your kitchen. We will explore alternatives to purchasing some embellishments and teach you how to stretch your money a lot further.
At the end of class, I welcome you to challenge me. Bring in an item that you would like to reuse and if I can't come up with an answer within 5 minutes, you win a gift! Also, the best tip will receive a special surprise, so come with your thinking caps on and your creative juices flowing!
Class price is $15. Seminar dates are: Wednesday, May 27 @ 1pm & Saturday, May 30 @ 10 am.

Spaces will be limited, so sign up soon to reserve your spot!!

Took the plunge!

Hey all, It's Lynna!

I took the plunge and started a blog. Right now there isn't much, but it is only an infant! I hope to post to both here and my personal blog as often as I can. You can see my personal blog here: http://anyoneseenmycraftknife.blogspot.com/

I'm waiting on a judging process for my design team entry for an online store. It's down to 4 people and there is only 2 spots, so wish me luck! The other goal I have is to get published in a magazine or book this year. I don't know yet what I want to focus on, but I'll probably do a card or maybe, just maybe a scrapbook page if I get one I really like!

Stop by and check out what we are working on at the store and here online!

I made the Spellbinders Design Team!

I'm still pinching myself! You can read more about it here on the Spellbinders Blog and on my personal blog here.

I'm going to be heading to Arizona in April for more training and to meet the others chosen to be on the team. You can watch for more classes with the Wizard and Spellbinders Die Templates in the next few months.

Be sure to stop in to see samples of upcoming classes. I've got a Spring card class planned for March featuring Spellbinders Die Template Butterfly Reflections (S3-038). Hope to see you soon!

Thanks very much

I made this gate fold card with last years Cloud 9 Design "So Loved" Valentine paper. You can substitue any paper for this card but since the roses went so well with the stamp I couldn't resist using it. I used a lot of Spellbinders dies on this card as well. Betty just got this stamp set in this week. It has great images for coloring with the Copic markers.

I stamped my image on white paper, colored it with Copic markers then ran it through my BigShot using the Long Rectangles and added a bit of color around the edges. Then using the Long Rectangles Scalloped I cut green cardstock to mount my image on using pop dots.

Next I stamped just the top part of the vase, using the Classic Circles Straight I cut out the image, then I found the sentiment to fit in the space to the right just so it would be seen when the card front was closed. Ink the edges and color with Copic markers. Cut green cardstock with Classic Cirlces Scalloped.

Now, on to the inside of the card. I stamped the image again and used a smaller Straight Circle and the Petite Circles Scalloped and Classic Rectangles Scalloped for the inside panel.

Enjoy!

Janine
